The Kittery Art Association
Betsy’s specialized homeschool curriculum is designed to break the mold of conventional art classes, offering a vibrant community space where independent learners can thrive. Operating out of the lower-level studio space at the Kittery Art Association, her workshops invite students to explore the wonderful world of sculpture, eco-conscious crafting, and mixed media.
The Homeschool Art Experience is tailored specifically to the flexible, curious nature of homeschooled children, Betsy’s classes focus on low-stress, high-imagination exploration. Students dive into fundamental art concepts while enjoying a rich, collaborative environment with fellow homeschool peers.
Imaginative Mixed-Media & Assemblage is inspired by her own studio work, Betsy guides students through gathering, organizing, and layering unconventional materials to create textured, storytelling pieces that stretch their creative problem-solving skills.
Eco-Sculptures & Recycled Art Betsy is passionate about sustainability and teaching children to see beauty in the ordinary. In signature workshops like her Earth Day Eco-Sculptures, students learn the fundamentals of building structural forms using paper-mache and recycled materials, transforming discarded items into vibrant pieces of art.

The Kittery Art Association
Join local artist and educator Jade for an immersive, hands on art experience designed specifically for homeschool students. This class goes beyond traditional art techniques to foster a space where creativity, risk-taking, and problem solving thrive. Through a mix of individual exploration and collaborative community projects, students will experiment with color, form, and texture. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, students will develop their own unique visual languages while discovering a deep sense of personal accomplishment and their valuable role within a creative community.
Jade is a Visual Artist and Designer born in Boston, MA, who currently resides in Southern Maine. She received her BFA in Graphic Design from Montserrat College of Art and has worked extensively as an educator, freelance graphic designer, and multi-disciplinary artist. After discovering a love for analog design in a digital world, she developed a vibrant, pattern-based visual language. Today, she translates her core values of color and form into her current work with colored porcelain (Nerikomi).
Art and art education played a crucial role in Jade’s own journey of self-discovery, providing a safe space to express herself, dive deeply into projects, and find encouragement. As an educator, her philosophy is to recreate that same supportive environment for her students- a place where vulnerability in the artistic process is celebrated, and where every young artist is empowered to become a confident student, creator, and community member.
