The Kittery Art Association prioritizes youth arts programming and offers free or low cost arts opportunities to young artists in our community.
We have partnered with local nonprofits like CoastX, Wood Island Life Saving Association, and The Kittery Land Trust to bring exciting educational programming to our students.

Marcia Abigail Ryder was a beloved Traip Academy art teacher for 28 years, during which time she touched the lives of hundreds of students. Her memory and spirit live on through the Kittery Art Association’s Marcia Abigail Ryder Scholarship Fund. This fund was created in 2008 to perpetuate Marcia’s work, inspiring and encouraging young artists in the Seacoast area. Each year, the Kittery Art Association awards several scholarships to graduating Traip Academy students to further their education in the arts.

We are pleased to collaborate with Beach Pea Baking Co. at 53 State Road in Kittery to present rotating shows featuring local artists.

In the summer months, the Kittery Art Association coordinates Plein Air Outings for members. Painting the landscape outdoors, or “en plein air,” is a centuries-old practice that requires an artist to respond directly to their natural environment.
