This exhibit celebrates the vibrant and unique wonders of the natural world. Whether artists created work from life or were inspired within the walls of their studio, Nature’s Palette + En Plein Air celebrates the rugged shores, serene harbors, gardens, and the beauty of the environment that surrounds us.
"En Plein Air" is a French expression that translates to "in the open air," and refers to painting or drawing outdoors. Our annual En Plein Air exhibit features paintings done from life. This method enables artists to capture the natural light, textures, and atmosphere of the seacoast in real-time. On view at the KAA from September 3rd through September 27th, 2026.
Opening Reception: Sunday, September 6th from 5-7pm
Also on View: Works by Spotlight Artist Amy Audet
Amy Audet is a visual artist painting in oils from her studio in Wells, Maine and various Plein Air locales in New England. Her work is dedicated to capturing the profound drama of the landscape, where light itself becomes the primary subject. Utilizing traditional techniques of grisaille and glazing with rich color, she builds atmospheric scenes that feel both timeless and narrative. Audet’s greatest reward is hearing that a viewer sees a story within her work, a reflection of the emotional depth and invitation her paintings extend.
Art Intake for Exhibiting Members: Monday, August 31st from 2-6pm.
