A WORD ABOUT FRAMING….
It is important that work which is submitted to KAA be framed correctly. How a piece of art work is framed says a lot about the artist. Poorly framed artwork reflects negatively on both the gallery and the artist. Would you want to buy a piece of artwork that fell apart as you were carrying it home?
If you are framing your own artwork, rather than have it framed professionally, please take the time to frame it carefully and correctly. The artwork should be secured in the frame with the appropriate materials (not masking tape!) and ALL frames should be wired with braided wire rather than steel wire. Screw-eyes and sawtooth hangers are only acceptable on very small, lightweight pieces. D-rings are a much better, sturdier choice. Youtube.com has many videos that may help and a discount is available from two different local frame shops. (See the back of your membership card.)
Framing can add to, or subtract from the value of a painting. If you are unsure of the way to properly frame a piece of art, and would like some advice, please contact Judy for assistance. Judy's email is firstname.lastname@example.org
