to promote knowledge and stimulate interest in and appreciation of the
creative arts in the community

• by holding exhibits and other public events
• by providing instruction to encourage art interest in our youth and all ages, and
• by enriching the arts in our community

1999-2008 Revival and Restoration

Since the fire on Jan. 2, 1999, the Kittery Art Association has:

• Established leadership for the KAA, including achieving financial stability.

• Attained nonprofit status (501(c)(3) with the IRS. Reinstated corporate status.

• Restored and upgraded the gallery space in the building.

• Reduced the building’s mortgage by almost 80%.

• Revitalized the Art Association as a community member.

• Initiated collaboration with other art associations and organizations that support the arts.

• Art exhibits are on display year-round and classes and public events are offered to the community.
